What is NatureKids mission?

NatureKids' mission is to work with the families of Costa Rica to develop the tools they need for self-reliant futures.

What is NatureKids vision?

NatureKids' vision is to create schools that take students into nature to learn language in the place they know best-their villages. With place-based language skills, students can better their lives and their communities in a conscious and sustainable way.

What is the relationship between NatureKids and NatureAir?

Through dedication to the people and environment of Costa Rica, NatureAir sponsors NatureKids and their work in communities throughout Costa Rica. NatureKids and NatureAir's vision is to expand, village-by-village, to each of NatureAir's unique destinations.

By mobilizing NatureAir's diverse web of contacts and resources, NatureKids has been able to garner support for our work not only within the communities we serve, but also within the greater Costa Rican tourist industry. This unique relationship has allowed NatureKids to walk the line between the industry and local community, giving each a voice, and a fair chance at development and success.

What is NatureKids' history?

NatureKids was founded in 2002 by Mercedes Cerna Khajavi, and its inaugural project was the first NatureKids English language school in Salitral, Santa Ana de Costa Rica. Since then, NatureKids has grown considerably, and today the foundation is operating programs in two, soon to be three locations throughout the country.

What is the legal status of NatureKids?

NatureKids is a registered Costa Rican foundation with cedula juridica 3-006-387655. We are a registered not-for-profit public charity in Costa Rica.

How can I donate to NatureKids?

Contributions, no matter how large or small, help us tremendously in realizing our goal of working with the families of Costa Rica to develop the tools they need for self-reliant futures. NatureKids accepts both monetary and in-kind donations, and we also work with volunteers for our tutoring and community education programs. How do I visit a NatureKids program?

NatureKids would like its program with travelers headed to NatureAir destinations in Costa Rica. If you are headed to a destination with a NatureKids program, see map , contact us and we can provide you with a "project tour" where you can sit in a class, talk to the local people and learn about ways to get more involved in our important efforts.
