Naturekids Activity Update February 2007
NatureKids is a Costa Rican foundation sponsored by Natureair dedicated to working with low-income families to develop the tools they need for self-reliant futures. Through English language and community education programs, NatureKids collaborates with families to bring viable and affordable education to communities throughout Costa Rica.
We are a non-profit after school program currently operating in two destinations in Costa Rica one in Salitral de Santa Ana and the other in Drake Bay Peninsula de Osa. In addition we are excited to introduce our teacher on horse back program which reaches out to surrounding communities within Drake Bay.
New School Year
NatureKids classes began this month with students ranging from the ages of 5 years old to 55 years old. All students will have two classes per week with one hour and thirty minutes per session.
Our teachers will all be teaching their courses similar to the Montessori Method, with applying creative learning through imagination, oral communication, art, games, music, sand trays and student role-plays!
NatureKids Soccer Team
The futbol project a non-profit organization in the United States has been working with NatureKids to form our first soccer team. The teenagers of Salitral will be receiving brand new soccer equipment and uniforms in exchange for one month of community service of picking up the garbage around the river in their local community.
Library
NatureKids library is set up in both schools. We were able to get started from the book donation we received from the Womens Club of Costa Rica. However we are always looking for more book donations for both children and adults.
