Nature Kids January 2007 Activity Update
Welcome to Nature Kids January 2007 Activity update! From everyone here at Nature Kids we would like wish you a happy new year and share with you our first news letter of 2007!
Christmas Celebrations:
Christmas marked the end of the first school year for Drake Bay! We celebrated the holiday with food, piñatas and games on the beach in Drake bay and in the community of Salitral!
We would like to mention a special thank you to the Employees of Nature Air- In one month the company came together and donated over 100 Christmas gifts to Nature Kids! The gifts were then distributed to the least fortunate families throughout the Communities of Salitral and Drake Bay- the families were very grateful especially the children!
Graduation Ceremony:
December was an exciting month for our program all the students attending Nature Kids received their first certificate of Graduation. Levels ranged from introductory, basic and intermediate. Drake bay had a total of 10 introductory level students, 55 basic level students, and 16 advanced level students. Salitral had a total of 53 introductory level students, and 81 basic level students.
In total 134 students in Salitral and 81 students in Drake Bay!
Traveling Teacher Program:
With help of our sponsors we were able to create an additional traveling teacher program to Nature Kids. Our teacher Eugenio Valentinencina of Drake Bay traveled to local communities within the Osa and taught over 40 new students throughout the communities! It was a very succesful program and we have decided to make it apart of our Foundation for 2007!
2007:
Library Books:
Our goal through Jan. and Feb. is to officially establish the library program in both Drake Bay and Salitral! This will be a library available for the students and the communities!
We would like to thank The Womens Club of Costa Rica who donated $300.00 in books for 2007!
Creative Learning:
We are having a teacher workshop in Jan. 2007 with guest speakers from Yabala Montessori to help create new ways of teaching oral communication using more verbal conversation, imagination and creativity!
A new school in Salitral:
The community of Salitral has come together to build and a new school for 2007! The school will provide more room for learning and land for gardening!
